A work in more than one volume

She would be away a week. That was what he had said. And she had been waiting for this call. And after a brief hello, she heard him say it. And she knew! And she didn’t want to consider it. Now she would have to decide. All their brief hellos and conversations had all led to now, where she needed to make up her mind. She had never seen him before, but she loved the way he made her feel. But she had been there, done that; and she knew; and as thrilled as she felt when he seduced her; as much as she needed how he made her feel! He made her feel desired. And needed. Ever since that first ’hey you!’ and every time they had talked since, He wanted to be with her and didn’t need anything else other than to be there with her, for her.

His wife however, would have had other ideas. But she would be gone a week. Down on the coast; he had said so. And he had to stay home. And she knew! And that’s what she had to decide. In order to get what she wanted. For someone to need to be with her! And as much as she wanted to be with him, she would have to go back to a point in her life she didn’t want to experience again. To be with someone who wasn’t hers alone; to care about him; and know that as much as he wanted to; told her he needed to; there would be times when he wouldn’t be there for her. And that’s what she didn’t want. . . . . . . But she did. And that’s what she had to decide.

They had barely talked in weeks. But he had said he would get her there; with him; and ‘as long as you are here’ he said, ‘you will have me!’ And he would be hers. She would possess him and there would be nothing that she wished for that he wouldn’t give. No thing that he would not let her do; or do for her; to her. And as she thought that thought, she felt the decision slipping; and felt herself; dripping; and she almost knew what she would decide!

And the day grew longer; darker! She loved the dark; where no one could see her; and she didn’t need to decide; where she wouldn’t have to decide! The room was cool; and inviting; and she pulled her quilt up to cover her bare legs; his quilt; the one he had told her about; and she remembered the story of how they got it. And as she warmed; as her eyes fluttered; closing a little . . . . she thought of him; and her smile helped spread the growing warmth . . . and her eyes stayed shut a second longer . . . and her thoughts turned warm . . . . and the deciding was gone . . . plush joy swept her eyes shut . . . . and best of any other thing, she was going there to be with him . . . . and neither of them had anything to do . . . .

She walked down the jetway bridge at the Airport, exiting the plane, and arriving in Texas. It hadn’t been a long flight, she had been able to sit near the planes door, and she seemed to fly thru the bridge and out into the airport. She started looking for him as soon as she could see people thru the door. Just outside the doorway, she slowed and stepped to the side to find his face. She felt him first, and turning, came to face him. His face was nothing like he said and like everything she imagined. And he grabbed her and held her for the longest time; and her feet dangled as he picked her up in his arms; and her heart raced. His hug was everything he had said it would be and she melted; and she didn’t care that everyone passing was watching them; and even the unhappy faces lit up as they saw their embrace; and the worries of days, and weeks and months disappeared and she felt his arms around her; and she knew. She had found him!
